Lisa Lovingood Kelly, Attorney & Counselor at Law

Lisa Lovingood Kelly’s understanding of the suffering that can take place within the human condition was solidified during her undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky where she received her Bachelor of Social Work Degree. She knew then that she not only wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, but she also wanted the power behind her that enables change in our society. Adding an understanding of the law, was a natural step in creating an arsenal of knowledge to help hurt or injured people. In 1983, she received her Jurist Doctorate Degree from the Chase College of Law at the University of Northern Kentucky.

Very early on in her career, Lovingood Kelly’s demonstrative personality was recognized as an asset to already evident legal skills. Her first legal position as an associate attorney at Ware, Bryson, West, Hiltz & Barlett, P.A., in Covington, Kentucky began with real estate title searches and real estate closings for the firm’s major client.

After just a few years, she recognized that in order to gain the experience necessary to practice in the wide areas of law that spoke to her spirit, she would need to establish herself as a sole practitioner.  In May of 1986 she opened her own firm and practiced law in Covington, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio in the areas of Family Law and Personal Injury.

Lisa Lovingood Kelly took the Florida Bar and was sworn in by the Supreme Court of Florida in May of 1991 and assisted with the expansion of the firm Hurt & Parish, to its newest office, located in Tampa, Florida.  There she represented injured workers as a litigation attorney in worker’s compensation law.

She then relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where she continued to work as a worker’s compensation defense attorney at Cole, Stone, Whitaker & Stoudemire to gain a perspective on how worker’s compensation insurance companies fought injured workers’ claims.  This gave Lovingood Kelly invaluable experience to continue her dedication to helping people fight against big companies and corporations who have unlimited resources to fight her clients court.

With the experience of having worked for the other side, in December of 1993, she began practice in her own firm with the added knowledge and determination to continue to represent people in need of legal help. Since that time she has developed a solid, reliable and affordable practice with several jury verdicts in favor of her clients against some of the biggest and richest corporations in the country.

Some, but not all of her successes and jury verdicts include:

  • a $1.95 million dollar verdict against Maxwell House Coffee wherein her client was discriminated against because she had a disability; because Lovingood Kelly was successful in obtaining this verdict for her client, Maxwell House Coffee was required by law to pay her attorney’s fees.
  • Another jury verdict for $1.5 million dollars where Lovingood Kelly represented a woman who had been discriminated against for experiencing sexual harassment on her job; Lovingood Kelly fought and won this verdict and again the company had to pay her client’s attorney’s fees.
  • Lisa Lovingood Kelly has also settled a case against Prudential Insurance Company for discriminating against one of their employees because he also had a disability.
  • She also has settled a case again Saia Freight representing a female truck driver for sexual discrimination.

With the launch of her new internet outreach in 2009, announcing the renaming of her firm as: The Kelly Law Firm, she has created an innovative approach to the services her firm provides, including self-help, assisted divorces.  Lisa Lovingood Kelly has been and continues to be committed to making sure people who need legal assistance can have access to it without having to pay thousands of dollars to attorneys to get the represenation in court; which is what they deserve.

Regardless of whether Lovingood Kelly is fighting an employer who has violated a discrimination law or assisting families and people obtaining divorces without putting themselves or their children through unnecessary fighting;  she is fulfilling her own personal commitment to make sure that she fulfills her goal of providing  – “GOOD LEGAL REPRESENTATION FOR A REASONABLE FEE”!
